Beautiful butterflies forming
Under a delicate chrysalis
Taking exactly the right amount of
Time to come out and ready themselves with great
Effort to flap their wet wings and prepare to fly.
Ready set go, they are on their way to
Find golden beads of nectar to feed on in a fanciful garden.
Life will be short but meaningful. The bright
Youthful colors make this graceful insect fascinating to watch.
wow!! I love the way this poem came together. I do a unit on butterflies at the beginning of the year and as a review and an example of our poetry assignment, I will use this on the smartboard for my kinders to see. They will love it.

Megan, this poem is just elegant! Your word choice is so precise and carefully chosen-
“Find golden beads of nectar to feed on in a fanciful garden.” My favorite line : )

Megan, This is the first I’ve stopped by your blog. We have all been so busy, I hadn’t taken the time I needed to in order to check out everybody’s work….so doing that now. I loved this poem. Beautifully written. I agree with Dr. Frye on the favorite line…wow! You paint a beautiful picture with words! Kari
