I just had some time to read “Love That Dog” and I really loved it!! I think it was such a great easy read, with so much emotion in it. I loved how the teacher really tries to help Jack find his way through his writing. At the beginning he hated poetry and at the end he grew to love it I think as much as he loved his dog because it helped him to express his emotions. I like how he tried out different types of writing and he finally agreed to let his teacher reveal his name on his poetry. To me that showed that he was starting to feel comfortable in his writing and in letting himself be vulnorable to others opinions of his work. All I can say is what a great book!

Oh Yeah!!! Isn’t this story so “inspiring.” I will bring Brown Angels to class so you can see the photograph that inspired the poem “Love that boy” by Mr. Walter Dean Myers. Also, don’t you love the concrete poetry? The yellow dog is my favorite! Glad you enjoyed the book Megan.
